Come aboard, fellow travelers!
We would like to invite you to join us at this year’s Students’ Conference themed
Journeys across Worlds: Deconstructing Realities through Language and Literature.
What is the Students’ Conference?
The Students’ Conference is part of the Project Module in the Master of Comparative Studies in English and American Literature, Language, and Culture. Supervised by Dipl.-Übers. Lisa Weißbach and Prof. Dr. Ingo Plag, the conference is fully organized by the students themselves. This allows the students to gain practical skills as well as work together in specialized groups according to their interests. At the same time, the presentations will serve as individual examinations for the students.
We will meet on January 29-31 in the Heinrich-Heine-Saal on campus.
On these three days, we will present you a broad range of topics from the field of English Studies. Our journeys will take us from medieval English epics to explorations of outer space.
Wednesday and Friday the conference will be opened by a special keynote speech held by Dr. Jens Temmen from American Studies and Dr. Dominic Schmitz from English Linguistics respectively.
On Thursday, scholar-author Dr. Helen Palmer will host a 10 minute Reading of her work followed by a Q&A session.
Anyone interested in English Literature and Language is encouraged to join! We will be happy to welcome you on our journeys across worlds!
